Why Vegetarianism or Eating Less Meat is Good for the Planet

Last modified date

Vegetarianism may seem like a fad, but it actually benefits the planet!

For one thing, cows (and other grazing animals but mostly cows) fart and burp (mostly burp) out methane. Methane is a greenhouse gas, which contributes significantly to global warming. If beef is eaten less, there will be less cows and therefore less cows. However, according to National Geographic, it may be possible to breed low methane cows, but as that could be tedious, it makes sense to just to eat less beef until then. Or continue eating less beef after there are low methane cows.

Also, to eat meat, you have to hurt (and kill) animals to get it. I feel that if you have to harm someone or something to get what you want, it’s not worth it. Also, animals should be friends, not food.

Things to do:

  • Eat less meat
  • Eat/drink less dairy made by cows, maybe more goat cheese or almond milk

FYI, you can still get adequate nutrients from being vegetarian, just eat more seeds and nuts, among other things!
