Why Plastic is a Flawed Thing

Last modified date

Honestly, the plastic-is-bad thing is quite obvious, considering that it takes so many years for plastic to break down into small enough pieces, which can still harm wildlife. So why do we still use it??? It’s clogging up the environment, and yet humans stubbornly cling to it… because plastic is what most of us have grown up surrounded by, and it feels hard to break away from the familiarity. But sticking to plastic won’t do any good. Although there are easy alternatives, it can be tricky to use them. Also, The Lorax explains all this perfectly clearly.

Easy Plastic Alternatives:

  • Cling film-Beeswax wrap
  • Plastic bags-Cloth bags
  • Plastic water bottles-reusable metal water bottles*
  • Plasticy fidget toys-Fabric squares, metal rings, ect.
  • Plastic lego bricks-metal ones** (I haven’t seen any but it seems live a cool idea)
  • Plastic pockets-fabric or paper ones
  • Plastic technology-metal
  • Plastic pens and stationary-metal or wooden stationary (preferably bamboo, because it grows really fast (around 1 meter per day, varying of course))
  • Soft plastic food packets-Paper ones, or better yet, make your own snacks!
  • Plastic milk and juice bottles-glass ones***
  • A lot more!!!

*Metal isn’t renewable, but it’s recyclable and is more environmentally friendly.

**Yeah… A lot of these alternatives are going to be metal

***And, to solve the problem of the glass breaking, hear me out… Milk bottle cosies!!!! (maybe crocheted or knitted???) Mwahahahaha!!!!
